What DAY ONE will accomplish over 5 years

Train and place 200 early childhood teachers in Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County who will receive a living wage.

Provide 300 children an affordable early childhood education that helps them enter kindergarten, ready to continue learning

Help parents enter or re-enter the workforce, confident their children are thriving

Support parents to become strong advocates for their children and families

Encourage young families to stay in Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County

Build a sustainable model that can be replicated nationwide

By 2030 people will say: “Oh, Poughkeepsie is the city that loves its kids.”

Our MISSION is to create a model teaching and early learning community where families, educators and future teachers collaborate to nurture every child’s potential, from day one.

Train 200 early childhood teachers in Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County. Provide 300 children affordable early childhood education that helps them enter kindergarten ready to continue learning and improve early childhood education for an additional 8,000 children through our teacher network. Help our county recover from the pandemic by creating a living wage profession and getting 6,000 parents back to work.

Bucket and Brush

Kids love playing with water. Water helps kids learn about science and math, and is a quick way to cool off on a hot day. Find a paintbrush or kitchen sponge. Get something that holds a lot of water (a bucket, mixing bowl, saucepan.) Pick an outdoor surface for your child to paint with the water. Wood works best, like an outside door or table.
